5 Healthy Eating Tips For December

Follow these simple tips and get the healthy eating habit in the run up to Christmas.

Cut down on sugar
Tired all the time? Easy prey for every bug that’s going? Beat winter health downturn by cutting back on sugary foods, which make white blood cells less able to combat nasties. Up your intake of fresh fruit and veg to keep immunity high.

Keep temptations hidden
It’s a good idea to stock up slowly on festive goodies and spread the cost – but be sure to hide them away – well away – where you won’t be tempted before the holiday. Don’t make your careful shopping habits an excuse to turn Christmas into a month-long binge of unhealthy eating.

Eat more fresh vegetables
Serve a large mixed salad as an appetiser before the main course to take the edge of hunger and give you a valuable serving of fresh veg.

Plan to eat healthily
Keep up the exercise even though the weather is colder. Wrap up warm, and walk briskly, every day. You’re bound to be hungry when you return, so before you leave, set out a healthy snack – put soup in a pan, get wholemeal bread into the toaster ready to go, or fill a small bowl with dried fruits and nuts. Make healthy eating easy, and you won’t be tempted to reach for the cookies.

Reduce consumption of booze
Cut back on alcohol in the run up to the holiday season. When you feel like a drink, wait for a while before you begin on the alcohol, and instead pour a fruit juice or tomato juice into an attractive glass, add ice, lemon and sip slowly. It soon becomes an easy, alcohol-reducing habit.

Water Purifier System - How To Determine Which Purification Method Is Most Effective

There’s virtually no debate about it today-if you want to maintain good health, than you need the right water purifier system to eliminate the harmful chemicals and bacteria from your water supply. You need pure water for good health.

Consuming water is one of the most important things you can do for your health; if you receive harmful chemicals in your water every time you get a drink, you will never achieve optimum health. Remember, your body is 70% water; therefore, the water you intake into your system plays a huge role in determining your overall health.

However, your location will be a big determinant in deciding which type of water purifier system you purchase. It all depends on what type of tap water you drinking and what kind of organisms you need to eliminate from your water. For instance, in some places there are might be harmful chemicals in your water system you need to get rid of; in others, it might be microorganisms.

Believe it or not, despite what we’ve been led to believe, drinking tap water really isn’t good for us. The reason is that there are over 140 harmful chemicals that are still in our water system that the EPA has done nothing to remove. Of course, this information is rarely publicized.

When it comes to purchasing a water purifier system, there are many different methods of purification. You can either use an ionizer, water softener, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet, distillation, etc. All of them are relatively effective at removing the harmful chemicals from your water supply. Which method you chose will depend largely on your location, budget, and the room you have available.

The bottom line is this: every water purifier system has their pros and cons. If there was one clear cut, flat out winner, there’d only be one. You need to do your homework and find out which one is best for you.

Start researching online. There is so much information on the internet today you can find info on virtually any topic you can think of at just the click of a button. There are literally thousands of websites today that review water purifiers.

Try to find ones that don’t directly sell them or are affiliate of water purifiers, because those will tend to be the most unbiased and objective of them all. Also, ask friends or family members who already own water purifiers for their opinion.

Finally, test them the water purifier system out before purchasing, and see which you like the taste and odor of the best. Believe it or not, some purifiers actually give the water a different taste than tap water; try to find one that’s effective at removing the harmful substances in your water and that also provides a nice, clear taste. When you’ve done this, you will see a dramatic improvement in your health.

A Real Breath of Fresh Air

The other day while browsing various gadget sites I came across an interesting looking device called a Goodsphere Bubble. Having spent many years and having some surgery to reduce the effect of snoring. I decided to invest in one of these Air purifiers.

I read up on the information of the product and a summary is given now.
A goodsphere bubble provides the following benefits.
It eliminates nasty odours from cooking and smoking all though I do not smoke some of my friends do and this would be a significant benefit. The other main benefit is that you can change the different aromas it can generate by buying the separate aromas available.

The goodsphere bubble acts as an ioniser which converts the positive ions within the room atmosphere to the more friendly negative ions in the atmosphere. The negative ions makes the air feel fresh without giving off black marks like some of the other types of ionisers.

The goodsphere bubble also acts as a humidifier last year I had a humidifier and it did make quite a difference. It broke and I have not had time to replace it. I know that this significantly reduced the amount of snoring I produced over night.

So having read the sales page and knowing that people are coming to stay soon I decided to invest in one of these goodsphere bubbles. I was amazed when it arrived fairly quickly and that it was fairly idiot proof in operation.

I unpacked the item filled with water I had also bought the apple orchard essence with the kit. I added the added correct amount of essence and turned on the unit. The goodsphere bubble provided almost instant fresh air smelling of apples and now it has become one of the most essential items in the house.
The effect that these bubbles produce is so dramatic that I immediately ordered a second device. I now have two spheres working in my house and I have had many comments from friends and neighbours on how this works, where can I get one and how much are they.

I also did some experiments in recording myself asleep to see if this has any effect on my snoring it remarkably does have the effect of significantly reducing the overnight snoring. This is really important to me and my relationship with my fiancée. Also the unit can clearly be seen taking the dust out of the air as the water quality goes from clear to dull.

Each essence lasts for around 24 hours you simply clean the unit and add fresh water and fresh essence. We now have an extensive range of essences for the goodsphere unit and the house always smells with a distinct agreeable aroma. Our favourite has been the rose blossom and its like working in the flower fields and meadows and has made a vast improvement to my life.

Death and Adjustment - The Hypothesis - Part - XIX

I can make my discussion and topic lengthier. But that would make it complicated and less reliable. So I want to restrict the interest of the hypothesis in a very narrow and useful range. Though I discussed many aspects in relation to it, I did those to arrange and realize an environment that would ensure the utility and necessity of this hypothesis at least even very vaguely.

So what I want to say? What is the purpose of such lengthy discussion? One might easily ask these questions. The answer is very simple from my part. I want to call it the declaration of this hypothesis. The declaration is –

“We should not take death as an absolute end for one. It is neither scientifically supported nor opposed. But practically it is troublesome. We should take death as something significant but does not bring end to one absolutely. This is also neither scientifically supported nor opposed. But it is practically helpful. It also proves itself as a superior concept than the first one in the context of rationality, via the rules of truth of Hamylton, and after the considerations of all the related aspects. Let us all live a better life with a better concept and attitude towards death.”

I believe any attentive reader has also noted that I have constructed something new (on the basis of the research done by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross) for the purpose of this hypothesis. And that is the stages of adjustment for an average individual who is healthy and not expecting any pending death due to any immediate or known reason. The adjustment stages are expected when a person is very simply reminded about the event of death. I called this staging system as a byproduct of the hypothesis. They are – 1) Dissociation, 2) Denial, 3) Anger, 4) Bargaining, 5) Depression, and 6) Acceptance. I must mention that my view about the stage of acceptance is that death might never be accepted fully or adjusted fully by one, rather some anxiety about death is very natural, and that even might be helpful for us like in the cases of learning, examination, sports or any other normal sector of life that demands motivation for good performance.

Finally, I found something important during my work with this hypothesis. I will call this the footnote of the hypothesis. It is – “In the twenty first century we are, practically, in an attitude of being dissociated with the knowledge of our own death”. The attitude was better in the pasts if they are taken as signs of adjustment, that is, defense. So may be, our whole civilization is sliding towards deeper and deeper trouble concerning death.

Starvation Diets - Starving to Lose Weight

A starvation diet in my mind is any diet where you are starving yourself. I know that when we are dieting usually we will restrict our calories so that we are burning more calories than we eat but on a starvation diet we are actually restricting calories to such a point that we affect our metabolism and force our bodies to jump into a phase below dieting where we are not able to lose weight anymore.

To understand a starvation diet we need to look at what we are doing to our body when if we decide not to eat at all for a few days. First of all our bodies will think that we are just between meals and our body will start to use up blood sugar and then start burning up carbs until they are gone. Once we have run out of carbs our body should use fat and muscle tissue for energy but instead will start to lower our metabolism in a fight to protect our bodies…this is the starvation phase. Eventually if we did not eat our bodies would start to burn off our fat and muscle and our metabolism would slow to a point where we would become very lethargic and our organs would start to slow down and eventually shut down and we would die. There are not many people that would go this far bad as we see in people with bulimia this definitely does happen sometimes.

Instead of using a starvation diet to lose weight what most diets tend to do is to confuse the mind and body so that our metabolism well stay up and will continue to burn fat while at the same time hopefully not burning the muscle that we have nearly as quickly. If we look at bodybuilders in their dieting phase before a competition they must lose all of their fat so they have to diet fairly hard and expect to lose some of their muscle – actually quite a bit of muscle.

When you are looking at a diet and do not want to starve look at the following points.

1. What is the goal of your diet? Usually the goal is to lose fat
2. What are you going to do to lose that fat? If you diet your body needs to stay a little bit comfortable and if your try to lose weight too fast you will go into starvation mode.
3. What are you going to do to raise your metabolism? Most people will use exercise for two reasons, firstly the exercise will burn calories to help you lose weight, but even more importantly getting exercise will force your body to raise your metabolism so that it can be ready when more exercise is going to happen.

In reading this hopefully you will see your body as I do, and that is that our bodies are machines that adjust to stimuli fairly quickly. Your body will speed up and slow down it’s burning of calories and storing of fat. I hope this will help you a little bit in learning to control your body using diet and exercise.

Cures for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disorder that occurs when muscles in the intestines contract faster or slower than normal and create pain, cramping, excessive gas, sudden bouts of diarrhea, or prolonged periods of constipation.

While there currently is no cure for IBS, there are many strategies you can use to better manage your symptoms. Experts claim the most important thing you can do to cure IBS is to avoid all products containing wheat, dairy and sugar.

Studies show that most people with IBS also have a wheat allergy. This intolerance to gluten severely impairs digestion and makes your IBS symptoms worse. Dairy is known to form mucus in your bowels and frequently leads to gastrointestinal distress. Many individuals with IBS are lactose intolerant and unable to digest the protein molecules present in dairy products.

Sugars are normally broken down by specific enzymes in the intestines and then absorbed. Many people with IBS do not produce some of these enzymes, so the sugars don’t get broken down properly. If these sugars wind up in the large intestine; intestinal bacteria will absorb them, which results in large amounts of gas being produced.

L-glutamine is a natural amino that can help to reduce sugar cravings. Whenever you have a sugar craving; place a capsule of L-glutamate under your tongue for five minutes, than swallow it. L-glutamine feeds your brain and overrides the sugar craving.

Most people have heard of Aloe Vera and associate it with skin care and beauty products. However, aloe vera juice is becoming an increasingly popular treatment of IBS and other associated digestive problems. Aloe vera juice helps to break down impacted stools and eliminate toxins from the digestive system. While it’s not a cure for IBS, many sufferers claim aloe vera juice is a life-saver.

Apple cider vinegar has long been touted as a cure-all for many ailments. Apple cider vinegar aids in digestion because it helps the body to assimilate and eliminate food. Apple cider vinegar is an antiseptic to the intestines and entire digestive tract. Due to its healing properties, apple cider vinegar can help to control diarrhea in a very short time. The apple cider vinegar cure for IBS involves consuming one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before and between each meal.

Acidophilus is the “friendly bacteria” that resides in your colon. There are over 400 different types of bacteria residing in your digestive tract. Some are beneficial, while others are responsible for producing gas, bloating, constipation and even diarrhea. Acidophilus is thought to help control and correct bacterial imbalances in the digestive tract and colon. Acidophilus is available in capsules, packets and even straws, which are perfect for children or individuals who have difficulty swallowing capsules.

Coconut oil shows promise as a my-irritable-bowel-syndrome.com/” target=”_new cure for IBS. Coconut oil is edible oil that has been consumed in the tropics for thousands of years. Coconut oil is considered a miracle drug by many; as it has shown effective in reducing cholesterol, supporting thyroid function, assisting in the stabilization diabetes, rejuvenating skin, and boosting energy. Coconut oil is available in solid form for cooking and in capsule form. Coconut oil should be stored at room temperature.

Magnesium is a mineral needed by every cell of the body. Experts suggest that nearly 40 percent of Americans are deficient in this crucial mineral. IBS patients who suffer with constipation find that adding magnesium to their diet helps with the elimination process. Dietary sources of magnesium include green vegetables such as spinach, as well as nuts, seeds, and some whole grains. Magnesium supplements can be taken as oral tablets, liquid, or intramuscular injections. IBS patients should avoid taking Magnesium oxide supplements, as they are the most poorly absorbed. Look for Magnesium chloride, citrate, gluconate or sulfate forms.

Many people with IBS find their symptoms improve when they add fiber to their diet. Fiber tends to be most effective with people who suffer from constipation; however, it may also help those who suffer from diarrhea. The best fiber to add to your diet is the insoluble type found in bran, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. An easy way to increase your fiber intake is with crushed psyllium seed. This natural laxative can be found in most pharmacies, supermarkets, and health food stores.

Dumbell Workout - Easy Muscle for Bulking or Toning

With the plethora of expensive exercise gadgets out there, it’s easy to get lost in the ridiculous notion that you need some fancy machine or contraption to get in shape and gain muscle. Why is it then, that when you go into any serious, hardcore gym, that you will find the busiest area to be the dumbell area. With all the fancy, expensive machinery, it is the dumbell workout that time and again shines through the distorted haze of expensive machinery and membership that the exercise industry has created.

It goes back to the idea that you can’t beat the basics. The already tried and true ways to build muscle and get in shape is accomplished through the dumbell workout. Whether you are into toning or bulking, the dumbell workout will not fail in accomplishing your goals. And the simple, conveniant nature of it simply can’t be beat.

Toning and Bulking: A good illustration of the ability of a dumbell workout being able to accomplish both toning and bulking can be seen through a bicep workout. If I am focusing on bulking my entire bicep I will perform standing dumbell curls, with a fairly heavy dumbell. This is a powerful arm builder which works the entire bicep and forces you to work the weight through a free range of motion, as opposed to machines which isolate your movement, generally only partially affecting your bicep.

Now, if I am concerning myself with more of a toning workout, or wanting to isolate a portion of the bicep specifically (such as the peak) then i will sit down and perform strict concentration curls. Where the standing bicep dumbell workout was more powerful in its execution, the seated concentration bicep dumbell workout is more focused. It is performed at a slower pace, and with a lighter weight.

Almost any body part can be applied in a similar fashion with a dumbell workout. You simply either focus on a dumbell workout with powerful movements or more concentrated, deliberate movements. Or in fact you can combine the two for both mass building and toning results.

A dumbell workout can save you time, money and frustration while providing you with a highly effective, no nonsense and convenient way to build muscle easy.

Treatment of Heart Disease with Coenzyme Q10

Since its discovery in the late 1950s Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) has received much attention as a necessary compound for proper cellular function. It is the essential coenzyme necessary for the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) upon which all cellular functions depend. Without ATP our bodies cannot function properly. Without CoQ10, ATP cannot function. This connection has made CoQ10 a very important object of study in relation to chronic disease.

In many cases the presence of chronic disease is associated with inadequate levels of CoQ10. But no area of study has received more attention than the relation between CoQ10 and heart disease. That is because CoQ10 is believed to be of fundamental importance in cells with high metabolic demands such as cardiac cells. A further reason the connection of heart disease and CoQ10 has gained so much attention is because heart conditions of many kinds are associated with chronically low CoQ10 levels.

CoQ10 is highly concentrated in heart muscle cells because of their high energy requirements. Add this to the fact that heart disease is the number one killer in developed and developing countries and one can see why the bulk of scientific research on CoQ10 has been concerned with heart disease. Specifically, studies on congestive heart failure have demonstrated a strong correlation between the severity of heart failure and the degree of CoQ10 deficiency. The lower the levels of CoQ10 in the heart muscles the more severe the heart failure. If indeed CoQ10 deficiency is a primary cause of congestive heart failure then, in such cases, the remedy is simple and cost effective; CoQ10 supplementation.

Congestive heart failure is a condition where the heart does not pump effectively resulting in an accumulation of fluid in the lungs. Symptoms may include shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying flat and leg or ankle swelling. Causes include chronic hypertension, cardiomyopathy (primary heart disease) and myocardial infarction (irreversible injury to heart muscles). Heart muscle strength is measure by the ejection fraction which is a measure of the fraction of blood pumped out of the heart with each beat. A low ejection fraction indicates a weak heart.

Several trials have been conducted involving patients with enlarged weak heart muscles of unknown causes. For those of you who like difficult phrases this condition (or variety of conditions) is known as idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. In these trials CoQ10 supplementation was compared to placebo effects. Standard treatments for heart failure were not discontinued. The results were measured by echocardiography (a diagnostic test which uses ultrasound waves to make images of the heart chambers, valves and surrounding structures).

The overall results of CoQ10 supplementation demonstrated a steady and continued improvement in heart function as well as steady and continued reduction in patient symptoms including fatigue, chest pains, palpitations and breathing difficulty. Patients with more establish and long-term cases showed gradual improvement but did not gain normal heart function. Patients with newer cases of heart failure demonstrated much more rapid improvement often returning to normal heart function.

Papers numbering in the hundreds from eight different symposia have been written and presented on the effects of CoQ10 on heart disease. International clinical studies have also been conducted in the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy and Sweden. Together these studies and the papers that have been derived from them demonstrate significant improvement in heart muscle function while causing no adverse effects.

One particular area of study involves diastolic dysfunction which is one of the earliest signs of myocardial failure. Diastole is the phase of the cardiac cycle when the heart is filled with returning blood. Because this phase requires more cellular energy than the systolic phase (when the blood is pushed out of the heart) it is more dependent on CoQ10. Diastolic dysfunction is a stiffening of the heart muscle which naturally restricts the heart’s ability to pump. This condition is associated with many cardiac disorders. Hypertension is among these disorders. As the heart muscles become stiff there is often a corresponding rise in blood pressure. When the diastolic dysfunction is reversed, blood pressure tends to lower as well.

In one study involving 109 patients with hypertension, CoQ10 supplementation was added to normal hypertension treatments. In an average of 4.4 months 51% of the patients were able stop using at least one blood pressure lowering medication. Some were able to stop using up to three medications. Another study produced similar results. In that study 43% of 424 patients were able to stop using between one and three cardiovascular drugs because of CoQ10 supplementation.

These examples are just a drop in the bucket. Diastolic dysfunction (and by proxy, hypertension) includes only a small sampling of heart conditions that respond favorably to CoQ10 supplementation. Other areas of research show great promise for CoQ10 treatments. Among these are cancer and AIDS. But such conditions are beyond the scope of this essay. CoQ10 is essential to the proper functioning of all cell types. It is not surprising, therefore, to find a diverse number of diseases that respond favorably to CoQ10 supplementation. Since all metabolically active tissues are highly sensitive to CoQ10 deficiency, we can expect to see CoQ10 research expand to many other areas of chronic diseases.

By Using Anti Aging Skin Care Treatments You Will Uncover Remarkably Young Healthy Skin

It’s inevitable that we’ll all get older, but with a little luck and skin care products, we should be able to do so gracefully. Increasingly, every day, there are new anti aging skin care treatments on the market that will help with anti aging and rejuvenation. Although the visible signs of age begin to appear commonly around the age of 30 depending on the genetic factors involved and your lifestyle, many of these skin care treatments can help rejuvenate your skin. Some common antiaging skincare treatments include skin care supplements, and external skin creams and lotions that can help reduce signs of aging and assist in the rejuvenation of your skin’s beauty. Supplements are an antiaging skin care treatment that you take internally, to help in the rejuvenation of your skin’s beauty. These are various minerals, herbs and vitamins that help rejuvenate your skin and reduce wrinkles, dry skin and perhaps even sagging. As the largest organ of your body, your skin is both your protection and your mirror to the world. Therefore, it should be glowing and healthy, to reflect overall good health. Simply put, if you’re healthy and vibrant, it shows on your face.

In addition to the supplements that you take internally, it also must do battle with the outside elements, so that the sun, wind and pollution, for example, can make it very difficult to keep healthy. Although young skin rejuvenates quickly and does not show the stress of this exposure to the elements, older skin does not rejuvenate this quickly and begins to show the stress it has undergone. As we age, cell turnover slows and skin wrinkles begin to appear. Skin also begins to lose its elasticity.

Proper antiaging nutrition and supplementation can help with this. To keep your skin healthy its youthful and radiant best, supply it with as much anti aging skin care treatments as possible. You need the proper amount of healthy calories that come from a balanced diet, including protein, fruits, vegetables and good fats such as omega-3s, as well as certain vitamins and minerals. In addition, you need adequate water to help flush out toxins and hydrate your skin.

Various nutrients can also affect your skin and hair’s health. Extra-virgin olive oil contains an essential fat called linoleic acid that can help you maintain smooth skin and healthy hair. You should also strive to have a low-fat diet that has just the right amounts of “good” fats, such as the omega-3s contained in fish oil or nuts, such as sunflower seeds, in it to avoid dry and scaly skin. Finally of course, you’ve got to drink enough water, to help flush out toxins and hydrate your skin. You should begin to see healthy results after a few weeks.

Are there skincare products out there that can help me?

There are many anti aging skin care products on the market that help with the antiaging process in many ways. They can help rejuvenate the skin by moisturizing it; as you get older, in general, your skin holds less moisture and can begin to wrinkle, sag and even get blemishes, so these topical moisturizers can certainly help. Some of these antiaging treatment companies add antioxidants purported to help cell deterioration and increase cell turnover, such as topical vitamins A, C, E. and D. This is supposed to help the skin increase in elasticity and also reduce dryness, which makes skin look fresher.
Some topical anti aging skincare treatments have also been developed in the form of masks or body massage oils.

For best effect, adjust your antiaging skin care treatment to your changing needs, as you get older. If necessary, visit a dermatologist to get some ideas of what you can do if what you have chosen is not working for you or if you need some assistance. More and more anti aging skincare treatments are on the market today, and their technology has greatly advanced. These days, aging skin has a variety of clinical treatments available to it to help you look your best as you age. If topical treatments are not enough, you can choose a more aggressive approach to antiaging treatment. In addition to topical treatments, there’s also chemical and laser peel technology or even cosmetic surgery if necessary.

Skin care tips

·Anti aging antioxidants: Your diet should contain healthy fruits and vegetables; these have lots of naturally available antioxidants in them.

·Anti aging supplements: It may be very beneficial to add supplements proven to have antioxidant powers, such as omega-3 fatty acids.

·Anti aging skin moisturizer: To look your best, use an antiaging skin moisturizer. Keep your skin as healthy and moisturized as possible. It can also protect your skin from the environment and elements by providing a moisture barrier.

·Sunscreen: Use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15, with both UVA and UVB protection, to protect your skin from sun damage.

·Antiaging night cream: If you need a little extra help, antiaging night cream can help keep your skin moisturized at night and may even have certain substances such as retinol, to help reduce wrinkles.

·Exercise and diet: Drink at least eight glasses of water every day to stay well hydrated; you should also follow a good diet and participate in regular exercise.

Anti aging antioxidant treatments for your skin

Substances known as free radicals contribute to the aging process because they attack the body’s cells and destroy or damage its DNA. Because of this, many antiaging skincare antioxidant nutrients have been added to many cosmetics. Major cosmetic companies add nutrients like vitamin C to their face creams, and some even include such substances as green tea extract.Antioxidant ingredients help protect against free radical damage and can help neutralize them. In addition, they can protect the skin from sun damage, which also contributes to free radical production. In addition, these creams also forum a protective moisture barrier to help the skin retain its elasticity and prevent dryness or wrinkles that may be caused by sun damage, as well as by aging in general.

When you’re looking for an anti aging skincare treatment, you may be stunned by all you have to choose from. Just about every company is now jumping on the bandwagon with its antiaging treatments. Check the label to make sure that each product has levels of nutrients specifically beneficial to your type of skin. For example, if you have dry skin or the climate you live in is particularly dry or cold, you should choose a heavier cream more suitable for a harsh environment or dry skin. If your skin tends to be oily, then choose a lighter cream but one that nonetheless contains all the nutrients you need. This plus the proper nutrition and supplementation should help you look your best possible and perhaps maybe even reverse the aging process.
