The Au Natural Way to Oily Free Skin

You have heard about all the various products meant for oily skin and have searched throughout different stores for the best ones, but now you are beginning to wonder; is there no easier way? There are so many different products out there to choose from, what about natural methods for taking care of oily skin?
When you have oily skin, you have certain goals you would like to attain regarding your skin.

First, it would be great to find products that allow you to help disguise the oil on your face so it does not look greasy. Second, you would like to find ways of getting your skin to look healthier, not so dull and unpleasant as it may look now. Third and most importantly, you want to find ways of controlling the oil by slowing down its production. This final goal can help you attain your first two much easier. With controlled oil production you will be able to get your skin to look much healthier and less greasy without as much effort.

However, you do not feel you should have to buy dozens of different products just to achieve these goals. It can become costly and frustrating, especially when you buy a product and realize it does not quite work out the way you had hoped. So what about natural remedies, some of which you may find you already have around your home?

Different natural remedies can do different things to your skin. Here are a few you may consider trying, but keep in mind that every different skin type has specific needs, so what may work for one person may not necessarily be meant for you.

Witch hazel. This acts as an astringent, tightening your skin and pores and helping to dry skin. This is a fairly common astringent.

Oatmeal. Also an astringent, oatmeal can help soak up oil and firm the skin to help prevent oil in the future.

Cold Water. Water has a few benefits. Washing away cleanser with just water removes the possibility of wiping your face with a potentially bacteria filled cloth. Cold water can also act as an alcohol free astringent (and the best part is, it comes right out of your faucet!) and constrict your skin to help slow oil.

Alum. One final astringent you may want to look into.

Almond & Honey. Mixing these two ingredients can make for an effective scrub. Using ground almonds (sometimes referred to almond meal) and combining them with honey, you can gently rub the mixture on your face with a hot washcloth. Avoid scrubbing as the honey and almonds will do their job without any extra vigorous scouring. Rinse the mixture thoroughly once you have hit all areas of your face.

Aloe Vera. Aloe can give your skin a cool, refreshing feeling as well as helping to soak up extra oil. Keep your aloe in the refrigerator to keep it nice and cold and apply after you cleanse your face and allow it to dry.

Aloe and Oatmeal. This combination can be used as a scrub as well. Putting these ingredients together can provide a strong oil fighting creation; putting together an oil absorbing ingredient with an ingredient with astringent properties and making a scrub? Just be careful this does not dry your skin out too much, or the consequence can be your face making more oil. Also, do not scrub vigorously; gently rub on and then wash it off after about 15 minutes.

Papaya. Mashing papaya fruit can offer you yet another form of a scrub or cleanser. It can help in softening up skin and wiping away dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling refreshed.

These are only a few of the home remedies you can find for your oily skin. Be careful when searching for some remedies, as there are many out there and some simply do not work, leading you do waste ingredients that may have otherwise been of some use to you.

Undercutting, New Hairstyles, Trends And Shapes In Hairdressing

Undercutting has really come into its own, I think the latest interpretations, will make this technique be around for some time to come. It has almost reached essential status, that is to say I think it will be taught in hairdressing colleges, once they have cottoned on to how to teach it and put it into the curriculum. One of the benefits of being in the salon, is you can implement changes to fashion and upcoming trends immediately.

In the very near future I will be producing a DVD of the undercutting techniques and show some of the applications and advantages when applying this technique to different haircuts.

Hair colour is being used these days to enhance haircuts, specifically different colours to match various hairstyles. This is nothing new, hair colour has always been used to enhance a hairstyle, it has now been refined, to think of how best to show off various haircuts with colour. An example of this would be strong geometric shapes would now use a strong hair colour, black, damson, or a crimson hair colour with a depth of a 3-4.

As cutting becomes free from the restraints of yesteryear, and learning to cut hair by numbers becomes a thing of the past, it follows that hair colouring will also be freed up colour palettes. One way of progressing from this will be to eventually look to permanent waves, not as we know them now, but use partial head perms in conjunction with hair colour.

It will be interesting to watch and develop how hairdressing will move forward, I have always found it prudent to understand what has gone before, look at older hairstyles and put a now-a-day twist on them. For competition or photographic work, I don’t think you can go far wrong. If you would like to learn more about hairdressing as a career, follow the link.

Female Hair Loss: Hair Transplant

Female hair loss is often overlooked as hair loss seem to afflict more males than females. Many people believe it just doesn’t happen, but it does. The effects on a woman are devastating. Much emphasis has been placed on the physical looks of a woman that when she begins to lose her hair, it is traumatic to her self esteem. There are some good options to help a woman who is losing her hair. Most of the treatment methods are just for hair loss remedy and prevention. In certain cases, these hair loss remedies may not be effective. Many women in these situations would want to get back the hair they have lost. No one likes to wear a wig everyday. That is where the option of surgery comes in.

In a hair transplant surgery, there are two ways hair is replaced. Depending on how the hair is lost, the methods can be follicle transplant or larger area transplant. In a follicle type, transplant individual hairs are transplanted to the thinning areas. In the other method, flaps of skin containing live hair are transplanted. Each method ends with the same desired result of replacing lost hair.

It is important to find out if hair transplant can meet your needs and be the answer to your hair loss. If you lose hair mainly from the top of your head then you have experienced the correctable form of hair loss. This is because the areas where you have not lost hair can be donor areas for the hair to be transplanted with little worry that they will grow once transplanted. The second type of hair loss is a thinning throughout the entire head and this way can not be corrected through surgery.

Hair transplant surgery is not always the answer for everyone. Some may have to have multiple surgeries to get the desired results. Deciding if you are a candidate for hair loss should be discussed between you and your doctor.

Inner Thigh Exercises

I train many women clients, and if there is one thing I have learned, women like to have toned inner thighs! It is a problem area for most women. The muscles of the inner thighs, also called the hip adductors, respond to a very specific exercise routine. It takes about 15 minutes of exercise three times a week to shape the inner thighs. All you need is an exercise mat to get stared. Try these exercises for a few weeks and you will feel more leg power when you walk, run, or swim. After about ten weeks, you will see new definition in your thighs.

Outer Thigh Lift.

Lie on your left side, and prop your upper body nearly upright on your left forearm. With your left leg bent comfortably, extend your right leg at a 45-degree angle in front of you. Slowly raise the right foot about six inches off the floor in a controlled motion. Hold for one count, then slowly lower the foot almost to the floor; start another lift without touching down. Do 10 reps. Then roil onto your right side and repeat. Do 3 sets with each leg. 3 sets of 10 repetitions each is a good starting point. When the routine begins to feel easy in about 3-4 weeks, add a one pound ankle weight.

Inner Thigh Firmer.

Lie on your left side with your head resting on a rolled-up towel to maintain proper alignment of your head, shoulders, and hips. Bend your right leg and rest it on the floor in front of you while extending your left leg straight with the foot. Slowly lift your left leg about six inches. Hold for a moment and then gradually lower the leg, beginning the next lift before your foot touches back down on the floor. After ten lifts, roll onto your right side and repeat. Complete 2 sets of 10 lifts with each leg. 2 sets of 10 repetitions each is a good starting point.

Cable Adductor Machine

This is the machine in the gym that most women gravitate towards! It’s the one where you sit with your back pressed into the machine, holding onto any handles and with your legs and feet pressed against the foam pads. Smoothly bring your legs together, hold for a second then return under control to starting position. Some machines will have a combination of settings, allowing the legs to be taken wider, avoid taking your legs out too far, especially for beginners. Aim to keep your legs and back in contact with the machine at all times. It may be useful to warm up your muscles with a lightweight prior to your training weight, as this will not only help prevent injury, but also make sure that the machine is set-up comfortably for you.

Inner Thigh Firmer Using a Stability Ball or Pillow.

Lie on your back on the floor and place a small Swiss Ball or large pillow centrally between your lower legs. Smoothly squeeze the ball or pillow, aiming to apply pressure from both legs, onto the sides of the ball. Hold in the inner phase for 2 - 3 seconds prior to releasing and repeating again. Repeat 10 times. This exercise is usually performed while lying, but can also be performed seated or standing. Complete 2 sets of 10 repetitions. 2 sets of 10 repetitions is a good starting point.

How Much Exercise Is Enough To Tone The Inner Thighs?

This number guide will help you determine what intensity is right for you.

Let’s say that the intensity of the exercise ranges from 1 to 5.

1 - Light exercise, can barely feel the muscle. (this is what you feel in the first 1-3 repetitions)

2 - You can feel the hip muscles working (as you do more repetitions, you become more aware of the tension in the muscles)

3 - Moderate intensity, where you begin feel a ‘burn’ or ’strain’ in the muscle. You have to exert a little to maintain the exercise.

4 - Moderate to high intensity, where your hip muscle starts to hurt, and you feel like stopping.

5 - High intensity, where you just can’t continue. You need to stop and take a break.

In order to tone the thighs, you need to push to an intensity that falls between 3 and 4. This will vary from person to person. For some individuals, 10 repetitions of an exercise is enough to get to 3, or even 4. This is especially common for beginners, or for those who have resumed exercise after a long break. For other, more conditioned individuals, it is common to get to 3 or 4 after 30-40 repetitions, or after using ankle weights.

Good News On Acne

If you have acne and you can’t get rid of it, it may be because
your acne-treatment isn’t working.
You may have already spent
a lot of money on acne treatments, but don’t give up just yet.

The good news on acne is that there are effective acne treatments
available, so you don’t have to put up with acne.

What Exactly Is Acne Anyway?

Simple really, and it has very little to do with diet and hygiene.
Everyone’s skin produces an oily substance called sebum
which moisturises the skin.

During adolescence the increase in hormones causes a temporary
increase in sebum production, and there may be a blockage due to
the follicles being more sticky than usual.

So if the sebum stays below the skin, it becomes a whitehead.
If it reaches the air the sebum changes color, and becomes a
blackhead.
If the tissue becomes red and inflamed then it is
likely that bacteria has entered the pore.

It is also possible that some medications like steroids, or heavy
oil based makeup can either cause acne or aggravate an
existing condition.
And heavy scrubbing won’t help - but it will make it worse.

Acne Skin Care

Learn to look after your skin and reduce the likelihood of acne
with these simple steps

use oil-free make up
apply your acne treatment all over your face - not just on spots
wash your face twice a day with mild soap and water, pat dry
never squeeze blackheads or pimples - it will make them worse. Use a blackhead removal tool

Topical Acne Treatments

Topical acne treatments are usually a gel, lotion or oitment; and
you won’t need a prescription to buy them.
One of the most effective ingredients is benzoyl peroxide, which is used to stop
the growth of bacteria.

Different products use different concentrations so you may need
to experiment with different products to find what suits you.

Other ingredients such as sulphur, salicylic acid, resorcinol and
azelaic acid are used to try and unblock the pores.
Again, different products use different concentrations of these ingredients so their
effectiveness will vary with your acne condition.

Acne treatments work by preventing acne from forming, so they
won’t get rid of acne overnight. They need time to work, up to six
or eight weeks.
Remember to apply your acne treatment on clear and unaffected
skin - not just the spots.

Prescription Acne Treatments

If your good skin care treatment combined with an over the counter
treatment fails, you may have to see a doctor for a prescription
acne treatment.
Topical retinoids and antibiotics are usually effective
in most stubborn cases. Talk to your doctor.

If all else fails, an oral retinoid such as isotretinoin is known to have
a very high success rate. It is strictly available on prescription in
brands such as Roaccutane and Oratane, amongst others.

There may be severe side effects with these drugs for some people,
so ask your doctor.

The good news is that, for most people, acne can be a thing of the past.

Anthony Bule has suffered from acne, as have his two daughters.
He writes on acne treatments at understand-acne.com www.understand-acne.com

The Truth About Senior Moments

We all have our moments when the word stays paralyzed in our throat. We can see the face, hear the voice, but we struggle to name who it is we have in our mind. Most of us have dismissed such moments as senior moments. After all, we reason, they are part of aging. However, a new study that emerged from Chicago recently suggests otherwise. Senior moments might not be as innocuous as previously thought. The study suggests that in a disturbing number of cases, embarrassing senior moments such as forgetting a word, name or recent conversation are really hallmarks and signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

After performing autopsies on the brains of 134 older people who had appeared to be normal except for some moments of forgetfulness, Chicago scientists have found that one third of the participants had brains riddled with plagues, waxy protein clumps and scarred tissues that were all signs of Alzheimer’s disease.Their senior moments were pathological. Despite the fact that their brains showed marked deterioration similar to those who succumbed to Alzheimer’s, these participants had been able to lead functional normal lives; that is, they were able to take care of personal, household, social and daily living needs. Their ability to do so has prompted the inevitable question: why is that that some people are totally incapacitated and indisposed by brain deterioration while others (who had similar levels of deterioration in the brain) are able to function normally?

Dr. David Bennett, an Alzheimer’s researcher at Rush University Medical Center acknowledges that much can be gleaned from this discrepancy: ”There’s something about these people that allows them to have large amounts of pathology without obvious memory problems. We need to understand why that is so.” His research suggests that certain factors seem to prevent us from being incapacitated in our daily lives despite the build up of plaques and protein in our brains. These factors include a) high levels of education and b) feelings of social connectedness.

Mentally stimulating tasks such as learning a new skill or language, doing crossword puzzles, reading and writing all help to diminish incidents of senior moments and prevent Alzheimer’s by enabling the brain to compensate for the incapacitating elements of the disease. Just as moderate aerobic activity( like running or speed walking) can build arterial reserves that prevent heart attacks, so mind building activities can create a “neural reserve” that enables people to tolerate Alzheimer’s-induced brain deterioration without succumbing to dementia.

The next question we need to ask then is, what activities can we cultivate to preserve our neural reserves?

1. In the famous Nun’s Study, researchers noted that the sisters who had a dense linguistic style in their early journal entries (which demonstrated an ability to manipulate complex ideas and images within a single sentence) were the most untouched by Alzheimer’s. Writing is an activity that demands correlation between the right and left hemispheres of the brain; translating emotions and ideas into words demands the bilateral engagement of both hemispheres, mind and senses. So by all means write—and write everyday. Make it as much a daily activity as exercise. Write from your mind; write from your heart and write from your gut. Don’t worry about what others think. Just write!

2. Learn a new skill or language. Assimilating something new, especially something that is unfamiliar terrain helps the brain to build new neural reserves. The language can be in the realm of music or computer ; as a matter of fact, so much has developed these days in the area of programming that the whole online arena of systems protocol and programs has literally opened up all kinds of possibility for growth.

3. Learn to play a new instrument— another example of assimilating new terrain. When we attended a recent violin concert where my grandson( age 4) performed the repertoire with the members of his Suzuki school, we were impressed by an elderly gentleman who stood up with the children ( ranging in age from 3 to 17) and performed his solo piece. The applause was thunderous.Non- senior moments like this inspire us to step outside our comfort zone and work through whatever it takes to learn a new skill.

4. Travel widely and far. By the same token, traveling to different cultures can enhance the activity of brain functions. When my partner and I traveled to France and Italy last fall, we could feel the neurotransmitters firing in our brains—especially in Italy. We had to learn how to ask for food, time, directions to the subway station, to the washroom. The city became a physical puzzle we had to tame and nowhere was this more evident than in Venice, where safely ensconced in the ferry that carried us to the Piazza del San Marco, we struck up conversations with a gentleman from Latvia, a lady from Capri and a couple from Korea . We were worlds apart linguistically—but somehow we managed to understand each other quite well. This was a situation when eyes, hand and gestures spoke more than words!

5. Exercise daily. Not only does aerobic and cardiovascular activity strengthen our muscles, joints and bones, it improves the brain tissue density in older adults. During the normal human aging process, the average brain loses 15% of the cerebral cortex and 25% of white brain matter, a loss that is linked directly to reduced cognitive performance. Aerobic and cardiovascular exercises benefit the areas in the brain that are most susceptible to the ravages of aging.

6. Last but not least, bless all you encounter and love what you do; forget details that are not essential to your spiritual growth, such as your senior moments. Leaving your ego self has the same dynamics as learning a new language. Know that we are shadows and that our real home lies elsewhere; this knowledge will catapult us into learning the language of spirit.

Does Shaving Your Bikini Lines Drive You Bonkers?

Considering the daring styles of swimwear many people, both male and female, are wearing today, no doubt keeping bikini lines in check is an important issue.

Even for those of us who don’t wear the more daring styles, making sure pubic hairs are not public hairs is a concern when getting ready for the pool or beach.

It’s not a simple matter of tucking your pubic hairs inside the legs of your suit, because they’re bound to escape. So it becomes a question of how best to remove the hairs at the bikini lines all together.

While many people may elect to use a depilatory lotion/cream or do a bikini wax at home or at a salon, shaving bikini lines is still the method most often used.

Now you may be thinking that the reason some people choose depilatories or waxing over shaving their bikini lines is because these alternative methods to shaving don’t irritate this sensitive skin. Truth is - That’s not the truth. At least not for most people.

If you speak with people who use a depilatory, (and they’re honest), they’ll tell you:

1) They’re messy

2) They smell pretty bad

3) They’re inconvenient - Because you have to wait for them to work, you have to be somewhere to be able to wash them off and they don’t always completely work, leaving you with patches of hair

And, most importantly -

4) The harsh chemicals more often than not leave your skin looking red and feeling raw, as if it’s just been burned, which basically it has …

And if you speak with people who choose waxing, (and they’re honest), they’ll tell you:

1) It’s messy

2) It smells pretty bad

3) It’s inconvenient - Because you have to wait for it to work, you have to be somewhere to be able to wash off the residue, it doesn’t always completely work with the first application so you have to do it again, and oh yes - IT HURTS! Even if you have it done at a salon, all of the above applies

And, most importantly -

4) The harsh chemicals more often than not leave your skin looking red and feeling raw, as if every hair has just been yanked out, which basically they have …

So - We’re back to shaving bikini lines.

The bad news is that most people who are shaving their bikini lines basically just grab a wet razor and have at it. So it’s no wonder that their skin looks red and feels raw, as if it’s just been scraped, which basically it has …

And even worse - Because bikini lines are areas that maintain a good deal of moisture and receive a great deal of friction, ingrown hairs become a major problem.

The good news is, anyone can learn that there’s a right way of shaving pubic hairs from the bikini lines and, perhaps even more important, that there is a much better tool than a wet razor for shaving this sensitive area.

Shaving your bikini lines doesn’t have to drive you bonkers!

All you need to do now is your own research about how to safely shave your bikini lines along with using a shaving device that’s better designed for bikini lines.

Short Trendy Hairstyles - What’s HOT for 2007

A short trendy hair style for the modern woman can make life a lot easier. There’s less time spent taking care of it - what could you do with that extra 15-25 minutes you’ll save not having to style and dry your long locks? Something short and ‘today’ can also boost your confidence and even make you look younger!

However, it’s critical to match the short hairstyle to the shape of your face and to your personality and lifestyle. It’s important to have a balanced look between your upper body, face and hair.

Below are some short trendy hair styles that should get you some looks in 2007.

THE PIXIE CUT

A Chopped up and brazenly messy do. Made popular in the 60’s - remember Twiggie? It can look simply amazing with the summer weather coming. Toss in some highlights, slick down the bangs or go with a bold color to add variety or make a statement.

This style will really show off your face so be sure you’re confident about your facial features and skin before going with this hairstyle. If your eyes are a central feature of your face, this style can really make them ‘pop’. You should also have delicate, “fine boned”, angular features to your face.

The predominate feature of this style are the close-cropped layers that frame your face. It’s also very short and close-cropped around your ears and back of the neck. Other features are a many short pieces that vary in length so there are many places on your hair that are even. Halle Berry has sported this hair style very successfully over the years. Sharon Stone too.

BOB’s

The new Bob has edgy styles and variations that men, women and children are choosing for this years cut. Salons are reporting it as the most asked for style and expect the trend to hold for quite some time.

This haircut could work on women aged 21 to easily 50. What makes a bob work well is soft, straight hair. The rest is a question of face structure. Women with longer faces should opt for bangs and a shorter cut, while those with round faces should have a Bob with side bangs that are cut away from the face.

Here are a few that should be fit, flirty and fabulous this year:

Inverted Bob

A great hairstyle if you have really fine hair. It’s one of the few trendy and most popular hairstyles that women with baby fine hair can wear and look great.

Go chic sophisticate to ultra funky with punches of colors, various layers, and creative highlights. There’s lots to choose from - the chic sleek pageboy image, asymmetrical, or going as bold as you dare - or something in between.

This bob can work with a wide range of hair textures. There are styles for curly, frizzy, straight, smooth, and wavy hair.

Short Bob

Best for oval or square faces. You can do many things with this hairstyle - cut some short, medium or long layers to spice it up. For a totally different trendy look, flip your under ends out. Don’t get carried away. Or get brave and add some color to throw in some contrast.

Or change the angles to give it a different look - go short on one side blended to longer on the other side. Use a longer version if your face is very round. Very straight hair suits this hair cut well.

The general rule is the longest pieces of hair should fall just above the chin to keep the face hugging effect.

Blunt Bob

This hair style can make fine hair look thicker. However, be prepared to do a lot of hair straightening and maintenance with this hair style. Unless you are willing to straighten your hair every day, this hairstyle can be a pain for natural curly hair.

Go with a blunt line and bangs above the brow. A more severe fringe gives this hairstyle its sharpness. But agin, if you have curly hair, you may want to go with one of the other hair styles.

Curly Bob

Great for those with a rounder face however Winona Ryder has made this style work for her with her square shaped face. Utilize layers to help detail your curls

Make sure the length is longer than the chin and a tad longer on the neck to keep the style well balance and looking good. If you have spiral curls, don’t go too short on this style. You may want to trim a few of the individual curls to keep the bulk down.

The bob is a timeless hairstyle. They are always “in” and seem to work well with natural curly hair.

LONG AND SHORT

If you have a more oval shaped faced, this may be the style for you. You can go from rocker chic if you have wavy hair to a look that appears to have wonderful body and life if you’re more on the fine, straight hair side.

Make sure to keep the layers fairly long at the back and uneven all around. This hair style is about flow. For an optional look, add in uneven, heavy bangs that can be tucked behind either ear is popular too.

SHORT SHAG

Don’t go with this hair style if you have really thick or really fine hair. Other than that, this looks great with every other hair type. Your face type should be fairly delicate and have small features to really make this hairstyle “sizzle”.

SHORT TRENDY HAIRSTYLES FOR OLDER WOMEN

A short haircut for older women does not have to mean drab and boring. We all know that age is just a number right? Heck, you’re as old a you feel. Age is just a number so don’t feel you need to be put into a box with your hairstyle at this age.

You’ve finally obtained an age where you have some much deserved time to spend on yourself so why not get a short trendy hairstyle that reflects your attitude and your desire to look youthful? Besides, short, trendy hairstyles can be easy to maintain, look absolutely fabulous and give you more time to spend on other things - even if you ‘look’ like you’ve been all day in the salon.

Ask your stylist to cut your hair to a length of about 2 to 3 inches all over. There are gels and texturizers you can purchase to give you that “messy” look if that’s your style or should we say “attitude”?. These can be toweled in or applied with the fingers and directed when blowing dry.

If you’d rather opt for a more classy or casual look no problem. There are many styles to choose from here too. Ask your stylist to cut your hair into contoured layers through the crown of your head. At the sides, your hair should be allowed to gently frame your face. This is an easy hairstyle to maintain if you have on “on the go” lifestyle.

USE TECHNOLOGY
There are many short hair styles that can have you looking fabulous this year. Everything from sophisticated to punk.

If you want to see exactly how you’ll look in one of the new hairstyles, check out a few of the hairstyle picture services on the net. With some of the better ones, you can upload photos of yourself and see 100’s of great hairstyles on your own face - even in 3D - so you can see what you will look like from every angle. Running & Muscle Cramps - The Nutrition Factor

Everyone you talk to seems to have a theory about muscle cramps and running cramps in particular - eat bananas, eat oranges, take more salt, eat less salt. For some this may work, for most it doesn’t.

Healthy Diet

All of our experts agree that it is beyond dispute that if you have an unhealthy diet it will contribute towards muscle cramps and they will explain in more detail how important proper nutrition is in the long term prevention and treatment of cramps.

Prevention in terms of nutrition comes down to consuming a mostly Fresh Food Diet that is high in minerals and avoiding ‘Empty’ foods that are high in sugar, low in minerals and introduce toxins and antibiotics into our systems.

Fast food of any type, fried food, processed or refined carbohydrates (such as cakes, biscuits and most types of bread), alcohol and excessive amounts of caffeine are all examples.

In terms of cramping, eating the wrong food does the following:

1) Reduces our muscles’ energy reserves and makes cramping more likely

2) Deprives the muscles of minerals required to relax and contract the muscles – particularly Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous and Potassium

3) Introduces toxins (preservatives, food colouring and flavour enhancers) that have a stimulatory effect on the muscles and tend to inhibit the relaxation response.

Kinesiologist and Osteopath, David Wells explains it this way:
“When you eat ‘fast’ or ‘junk’ food you are depriving your body of the right fuel but also increasing overall toxicity with flavour enhancers and preservatives which are stimulatory to the brain and therefore tend to produce increased muscle tone (i.e. switching on the muscle contraction), making it more likely that you will cramp.”

“All of these toxins have to pass out through the liver for detoxification and therefore reduce your energy output because the liver burns up your energy reserves trying to detoxify you. This results in you feeling tired and with less energy for your muscles to work.”

Sports nutritionist Richard Renton agrees, “Being an athletic trainer and having worked with teams for a long time, after starting with a new team I could tell you after 2 weeks who’s going to get cramps & who’s not - poor diet or a good diet, their habits, whether they sweat profusely, whether they take care of themselves or not, you can tell. If they’re drinking a litre of fizzy pop before they work out, and if that’s their only method of drinking water, that’s going to create a lot of problems.”

So a good diet with plenty of fresh food is something everyone who suffers regular cramps should take notice of. Gone are the days, particularly as we get older when you can eat anything you like because you’re able to burn off the calories.

Athletes who used to try this suffered worse problems than cramps. Many elite endurance athletes of the 90’s frequently suffered ‘mystery viruses’. In actual fact these were regular illnesses which we all suffer, but because these athletes had such depleted immune systems they were more susceptible to regular attack.

If you’re not eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and suffering cramps, you’re getting the early warning signs of worse things to come, so “clean up your act”.

Liver is one of our body’s major and most essential organs. Liver is situated behind the lower ribs on the right side of your abdomen and it’s about the size of a football, weighs 3 to 4 pounds. It performs hundreds of essential functions. Without it, you couldn’t digest food and absorb nutrients, get rid of toxic substances from your body or stay alive. Hep Forte offers nutritional support for overall liver health, particularly in cases of : Alcoholism, Hepatic dysfunction due to hepatoxic drugs and liver poisons. The liver offer your body with critical functions like filtering blood, reducing toxins and producing factors that help blood clot. It serves as a storage depot for sugar (glucose), which it releases when you need energy. Your liver also works as a chemical factory, producing many substances that perform vital tasks in your body. For examples include bile, a fluid that carries away waste and helps digest fat in the small intestine, and cholesterol, a substance needed by every cell in your body. It deals with many drugs into forms that are easier for the body to use. It also converts sugar into triglycerides (lipids/fats) and glycogen (a form of glucose/sugar stored by the liver) that helps regulates the body’s needs.

What can be improper with your liver?
As with all organs of the body, the liver is subject to a range of disorders and diseases. Severe complications may be happens if you develop any liver problem. Some liver problems can’t be prevented, such as those that are hereditary, but you can take an active part in preventing other liver problems. The liver’s functioning does not really decrease with age so, in the absence of disease, the liver should work optimally right into very old age.

The extensive diseases of the liver are viral hepatitis and alcoholic liver disease.

Viral hepatitis - Viral hepatitis can conduct to serious liver problems and is the most common type of liver disease. Hepatitis causes inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis A, B and C are the most common sources of viral hepatitis. As Hepatitis A is customarily a transient infection, both Hepatitis B and C can be serious and progress to chronic liver disease, even causing liver cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Liver Cirrhosis can be due to any long-term, continuous cause of liver damage. These causes include Hepatitis B and C and inherited liver disease. When the liver is wounded some of the running cells die and are replaced by scar tissue. Once cirrhosis has developed, the process cannot be reversed even if the original cause recovers.

Alcoholic liver disease - Alcoholic liver ailment does not affect each person who drinks alcohol. Though it is dependant on the amount of alcohol consumed over time, some people seem to be more susceptible to the adverse effects of alcoholic beverages. Too much alcohol can make a normal liver swell with fat, causing a condition called fatty liver. If the fat becomes inflamed, it can lead to either alcoholic hepatitis, a liver problem that causes serious but often reversible liver damage, or cirrhosis, which causes irreversible liver damage. Because of extensive scarring, a cirrhotic liver shrinks to a fraction of its normal size.
