What is HGH?

HGH is not an anabolic steroid, but a peptide-based (protein) hormone that is much more closely related in structure to compounds like insulin than steroids. But for bodybuilders, the important thing about GH is that it does produce effects comparable to anabolic steroids. Growth Hormone is a powerful anabolic compound that has been proven to increase lean muscle in both athletes and medical patients alike. GH also helps speed up body fat loss and increases energy levels.

GH has been called a master hormone and the “fountain” of youth because of its effects on combating the overall decline in health that accompanies aging.
Many clinics that specialize in longevity regularly prescribe HGH as a way for people to regain their youth and health effects. It is also administered to promote growth in children who are deficient.

GH is available in a variety of different sources, but since the molecule is so delicate and temperature sensitive it should only be administered by injection and kept refrigerated.

Until modern synthetic versions were first created, the only sources for HGH were from cadavers (i.e. corpses!). Unfortunately this carried with it the risk of viruses including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

By itself growth hormone can be considered moderately anabolic. But when stacked with steroids the effects are nothing short of outstanding. In the early 1990’s a whole host of 230-240-pound bodybuilders suddenly started turning up onstage weighing 260, 270, 280 pounds. And this usually happened in less than a year!

So why not!

So why shouldn’t you add HGH to your bodybuilding workouts? For starters much of the GH on the blackmarket is counterfeit. How safe do you think basement labs are? Do you think they’re worried about quality control?
There is also the price to contend with. Unless you have very deep pockets, a typical cycle of growth hormone will set you back thousands of dollars. Trust us there are better places to invest your hard-earned cash. Finally and perhaps most important GH can be dangerous. Take a look at the midsections of many of today’s larger pro bodybuilders. It seems protruding guts are a dime a dozen now days. The reason is that growth hormone causes more than just muscles to grow, it also enlarges internal organs. Now this can’t be healthy (it’s not that attractive and appealing either!).

A safe alternative

Rather than give in to the risk, appeal, and cost of HGH, we strongly encourage you to check out some of the fantastic legal HGH analogs that are available. These exciting new products are reported to produce effects comparable to steroids and growth hormone without the side effects of these illegal drugs. Check them out today!

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Thoracic outlet syndrome is not uncommonly diagnosed in patients with neck pain who also have pain down the arm, tingling and numbness and cold feeling in the affected hand.
Many patients with cervical nerve root irritation will also get this diagnosis. When the diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome is entertained, treatment using surgery for the relief of symptoms is often discussed.

Before considering surgery, patients must be treated as conservatively as possible since most of the symptoms attributed to thoracic outlet syndrome is often caused by pain and spasm of muscles of the neck and shoulder girdle from presence of multiple level cervical nerve root irritation.

Therefore the need for conservative management must be underscored since many patients who undergo thoracic outlet syndrome surgery continue to be in the same degree of pain as before the surgery and some of them have even more pain than before the surgery.

True nerve related thoracic outlet syndrome in the general population is indeed very rare (one case per million).

Thoracic outlet syndrome involves the lower trunk of the brachial plexus, the subclavian artery and vein, or both, at any point between the base of the neck and the arm-pit (axilla). The lower trunk of the brachial plexus and the blood vessels (subclavian artery and vein) can be entrapped in the neck before the level of the scalene muscles, or between the scalenus anterior and medius muscles or beyond these muscles in the space between the clavicle and first rib (costoclavicular region) or by pressure of the pectoralis minor muscle.

In true nerve related thoracic outlet syndrome, there is wasting of the affected thumb muscles due to stretching or angulation of the lower trunk of the brachial plexus over a fibrous band. This fibrous band extends from a small cervical rib or an elongated transverse process of the C7 vertebra, to the first rib. The patients may be affected only on one side although x-ray abnormalities of presence of the cervical rib and the elongated transverse process of the C7 vertebra may be found on both sides.

Since it is the T1 nerve root that is usually angulated or stretched over this fibrous band, the hand wasting or weakness is usually found in the thumb muscles.

The thumb muscle wasting found in thoracic outlet syndrome is similar to that found in carpal tunnel syndrome. However, in thoracic outlet syndrome, the numbness of the fingers is in the last two digits (ring and little fingers) supplied by the ulnar nerve.
In carpal tunnel syndrome, complaints of numbness is primarily in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring finger in the distribution of the median nerve.
In addition to complaints of numbness in the last two digits of the affected hand, the patient with thoracic syndrome also has complaints of numbness in the distribution of the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm which supplies the inner aspect of the forearm.
The inner aspect of the forearm is not supplied by the ulnar nerve and sensory abnormalities in this distribution indicate abnormalities of the lower trunk of the brachial plexus.

The patient with T1 nerve root irritation from a neck problem will also complain of numbness in the inner aspect of the forearm but in T1 spinal nerve root lesions, the conduction studies of the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm are not affected.
In thoracic outlet syndrome, there will be abnormalities of the conduction studies of the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm.

A thorough electrodiagnostic examination is essential to differentiate carpal tunnel syndrome involvement of the median nerve at the wrist or ulnar nerve involvement at the elbow from presence of thoracic outlet syndrome.

To get a true diagnosis of nerve related thoracic outlet syndrome, these peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes must not be present. If the peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes are present, thoracic outlet syndrome diagnosis must not be entertained first.
Tightness of the muscles of the neck and shoulder girdle due to presence of multiple level cervical nerve root involvement from sudden trauma (as with auto-accidents) or insidious cumulative trauma to the neck (as with aging) can produce pain symptoms similar to that of thoracic outlet syndrome.

Tightness of the muscles is the mechanism by which pain can continue even after thoracic outlet syndrome surgery since the original pain is related to mechanical vice-like affect of tight muscles on intramuscular nerves and blood vessels. The pulling effect of the tight muscles on pain-sensitive underlying bone and joints cause additional pain.

Selective muscle activation using eToims Twitch Method to electrically stimulate motor points (trigger points) is the method of choice to produce exercise effects to tight muscles.
On locating the irritated motor point, eToims Twitch Method produces an internal stretch effect that results in relaxation of tight muscles that promotes circulation, ending pain at the areas stimulated.

neck pain| thoracic outlet syndrome.

Jennifer Chu, M.D. emeritus professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, pioneered eToims Twitch Relief Method that utilizes surface electrical stimulation to locate motor points (trigger points). The motor points are then stimulated to induce strong local muscle contractions, termed twitches. This results in reduced muscle pain and discomfort in the areas that were stimulated. The involved pain/discomfort-relieving mechanism is thought to include local muscle exercise and stretch effects.

Discover the Healing Tao Meditation Technique

Deep relaxation is an important part of meditation making it an ideal antidote to stress. Deepening meditation helps a person to develop greater awareness in situations and become more detached from disturbances.

Mantak Chia, the Thai author and teacher offers the unique Healing Tao system of meditation. Instead of focusing on one point in the body such as the mid-eyebrow point, or looking at an object like a lighted candle, he teaches a method for moving energy around the body, while in a meditative state, with the aim of gradually opening energy channels.

In addition to the meditation technique, Mantak Chia offers a complete system for personal development which includes healing techniques and self-defence. Though having direct teaching is the best method of learning, there are several books, tapes and DVDs available to help anyone interested.

Though initially teaching in the USA, Mantak Chia has now an established retreat center in Thailand. Additionally, there are retreat sessions held around the world where the system can be learnt first-hand. The main website is universal-tao.com where you will also find some free mp3 audio lessons.

The simplest book to begin with is “Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao” by Mantak and Maneewan Chia. This teaches the basic exercises known as the “inner smile” and the “microcosmic orbit”. These exercises form the basis for entire system and involve going into a meditative state, smiling down to each of the main organs of the body, and circulating energy (chi) through the energy channels. These techniques will take a few days to learn but once mastered can be completed within a few minutes.

The other basic exercise is the “six healing sounds” which provides work on emotional release and negative emotions in order to lessen the damage these emotions can cause in the body and mind.

It’s particularly commendable the way Mantak Chia emphasizes safe meditation practice by teaching the need to end the meditation by storing any excess energy around the navel. Also, all the exercises and postures are clearly illustrated in his books.

The great benefits of meditation are that it is a system of focusing and calmness that is beneficial for people of all ages and all faiths, in both a spiritual and health-giving way. Using a meditation technique for even just a few minutes a day can make a difference in your overall health, mood and spiritual state.

Never Keep Your Wallet in Your Back Pocket!

As doctors of chiropractic and applied kinesiologist, we have seen thousands of patients who come to us complaining of back pain and a frequent cause of their pain is their wallets. Let me explain…

The pelvis is the lower most structure of the spine. I describe the pelvis as the foundation of the house with the head neck and shoulders representing the second floor. Just imagine the far reaching affects a crooked foundation can have on a house. If your pelvis is not aligned properly it can easily affect your hips, low back and even your neck.

By wearing your wallet in your back pocket while sitting on it all day, the balance on your pelvis and low back can be affected. A slight change in the position of the pelvic bones will cause a stretching of tissues on one side of the body, while the opposite side is shortened and contracted. It doesn’t take long for these subtle changes to affect the body. If you sit on your wallet 8-10 hours a day eventually the body’s ability to reverse these changes is diminished and when you stand up the imbalance that was created by the wallet when you were sitting remains. Now, you are walking around with an imbalance in your pelvis, which in turn changes the way your entire spine and you whole body functions. Because the pelvis’s biomechanics must adapt to the change in balance, the rest of the body must compensate as well. Until this imbalance is corrected it will continue to wreak havoc in your body.

Eventually pain will develop; it is not a question of if, just a matter of when. So to avoid the effects that wearing a wallet in you back pocket can cause put your wallet in your front pocket!

Healing All Diseases With Thoughts And Feelings

You can only heal the body by healing the consciousness. All diseases originates from within, and therefore can only be healed from within. Medicine only facilitates healing but it does not heal. What matters is not the medicine, but rather how you think of it. All disease that manifests in the outer, physical body has arisen from within the conscious or subconscious mind. They are the effects of your thoughts and feelings.

Stress is the main cause of “dis-ease” which results in a lack of ease in the mind and body. If you experience stress in your consciousness with your thoughts and emotions, it will manifest in your physical body in some way. Worry causes stress. If you worry about your health, you will remain unhealthy and your health will worsen. You do not have to make yourself healthy because health is your natural state.

Your beliefs affect what your consciousness allows to manifest in your physical reality. If you believe you can “catch a disease” such as a cold, you will catch it. If you know that you cannot catch a cold or flu no matter where you go or who you are exposed to, then you never do. This understanding gives you the power to enter into any place that has the presence of disease without fear of contracting any of it because you know it can’t attach itself onto you without your consciousness allowing it.

When you take a medicine with the mindset of “I have a disease and therefore I am taking this medicine for it”, the medicine reinforces the disease. When you take a medicine while thinking about the disease you are hoping to cure, you are attracting more of the same. But if you believe that taking the medicine will cure you, it will. This is how the placebo effect works. It is not the substance contained in the medicine that brings about the “cure”, but the belief that it will cure you.

The term given to this effect is “eucharist” which means saying grace. A eucharistic act is the act of eating or drinking something while associating it with a positive thought. The substance being eaten or drunk is of no importance, but a thought with a corresponding action serves to reinforce the thought and give it more power. That is why saying grace and giving thanks for the food that you eat actually causes it to have a positive effect upon your body.

When medicine is taken with unhealthy thoughts, the negative eucharistic effect reinforces and perpetuates the disease. You can avoid becoming ill in the first place by thinking only healthy thoughts, and thoughts conducive to remaining healthy. If you do contract a disease, know and think beyond all doubt that you are in perfect health and feel the positive emotions of joy, happiness and gratitude associated with it.

If you get a headache, or sneeze, or feel uncomfortable in any other way, do not think that you are falling sick or similar thoughts. Instead think about how well you feel, and do anything to keep your emotions and vibrations high. Sing or play your favorite song. Do something that makes you feel joyful. Diseases are low vibration and positive feelings of high vibration will repel them out of existence. Disease cannot exist in a body that is in a high emotional state.

A disease is an unrest. You need to put yourself in a state of rest for healing to occur. Stop doing things that take too much of your energy. Do something relaxing. Do something that allows energy to flow into you rather than away from you. Give yourself plenty of rest and your body will recover much faster. More importantly, take your mind of things that are intense, but allow your mind to rest as well. Relax in what you are doing and enjoy it. You will find that it becomes relaxing instead of stressful.

Know, beyond all doubt that you are in perfect health, and that you have the power to remain in perfect health without the need to consume any artificially created cures. Your doctor will be amazed when you are no longer “ill” but are in perfect health. He will attribute it to the medicine or even a “miracle”, but you will know the truth. The truth is there is not one single ailment, illness or disease in existence that cannot be healed using the power of the Mind. Not one.

Everyone has an etheric field of energy that emanates from their physical bodies. It is also the health aura of their being. When their etheric field strength is low, it enables negative energy to enter and affect the physical body. Always be aware of how you are feeling because that is the strength of your etheric energy field. Never allow your emotions to be too low for too long. When you keep projecting a strong positive energy field, you are invulnerable to negative energetic attacks of sickness and disease.

When your consciousness and vibrations are stronger than your environment, you will find yourself affecting those around you instead of being affected by them. When you step into the presence of the sick and dying, instead of contracting their sickness, they will contract your energy of life and strength. They become healed by the mental atmosphere and positive energy that you are projecting.

From now on know only perfect health, and if you do think you are “going down with something”, immediately reject those thoughts, and affirm to yourself your perfect health, and know it is impossible to become “ill” and that will be your reality. Never think thoughts of disease, sickness or illness. In fact get those words out of your mind and don’t even use them as descriptions. Think only in terms of energy, vibrancy, strength, freedom and liveliness.

Is Your Diet A Headache?

There are some foods and drinks that headache and migraine sufferers should avoid. However the sad truth for people who suffer from severe headaches is that only around 20% see any benefit to a change in their diet.

The things that are best left alone are the six C’s:

Coffee
Cola
Chocolate
Cheese
Citrus
Congeners

Other foods that contain headache triggers are:

Nuts and cheeses that have been aged, such as parmesan, cheddar and brie. These all contain Tyramine, an amino acid which can trigger headaches.

Beer and red wine which both contain Histamines.

Hotdogs, luncheon meats, cured ham, sausages and other processed meats which all contain nitrates as preservatives.

Monosodium glutamate, or MSG which is in a lot of Chinese food.

The ‘vaso-active’ amines in some foods are what are believed to bring on a headache or migraine. These amines enlarge the blood vessels, which press on nerves and cause pain.

There is hope for chocolate lovers though. Although chocolate contains amines and was long thought to be a trigger, research is showing that it’s not necessarily so. Although it’s good news, we don’t suggest that you go off and have a massive chocolate binge. As with all of these foods, it really is a case of what works, or doesn’t, for you. Try them out one at a time, so that you know what your own personal triggers are.

So if I avoid these triggers I won’t get headaches?

It’s true that avoiding these will help. But other aspects of your diet can bring on headaches too. Dehydration is probably the most common reason for headaches but happily, the easiest to remedy. That sort of headache can be quickly relieved by just drinking. Children often come home from school complaining of a headache. For a start, they don’t have the time or opportunity to drink as much as they would at home. And it’s common for kids to limit their fluid intake at school as they embarrassed to ask to go to the bathroom. These headaches can easily be avoided by giving your child a small bottle of water to carry around so that they can have a drink between classes.

Whether you’re at home all day or go out to work, it’s often easy to get engrossed in what you’re doing and forget to drink enough. So plan regular breaks, or drink while you work. You’ll be surprised what a difference it makes. Drinking a lot of water is good for your whole body and will help to give you clear, glowing skin. Need any more persuasion?

The afternoon slump

Low blood sugar can also bring on a nasty headache. A lunch of chips, sweet drinks and candy is high in sugar and carbohydrates that are refined and can cause a rapid rise in blood sugar. That is what gives you the high and makes this sort of meal so appealing. But then there is a sudden drop – leaving you feeling dopey and drowsy and often with a headache. Try to choose meals with complex carbohydrates that take longer to digest, like whole meal bread, cheese, turkey and fruit. This kind of diet will help to prevent headaches, give you longer-lasting energy and improve your digestive system. Can’t be bad!

Am I Considered Overweight?

The first step for weight loss is to evaluate your body weight in order to understand if you are overweight and the extent to which you’re overweight. Once you have done this, you can then proceed to chose a weight loss program that suits your unique weight loss goals and your lifestyle.

Evaluating your body weight is very simple . There are two methods that most professionals use to assess body weight, and these can be easily used by individuals at home to assess their weight. These are the Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist Circumference.

The Body mass index (BMI)- The Body Mass Index uses an individual’s weight in relation to height to measure body fat. Using the Body Mass Index, weight is assessed using the following scale:

BMI between 18.5-24.9 - Healthy WeightBMI between 25-29.9 - OverweightBMI 30 or higher - ObeseIt is important to keep in mind that not everyone whose BMI is in the “healthy” range is at their most healthy weight. Those people who carry excess fat, with little muscle, need to concentrate on losing body fat and increasing muscle. Some people may have a BMI just above the healthy range, but have lots of muscle and little fat. Generally speaking, however, the higher the BMI measure beyond the “healthy” range, the greater the health risks associated with body weight.

Those people with a BMI above the healthy range should visit a health care practitioner to discuss potential weight related health risks.

Waist circumference

Waist circumference is a measurement taken around the waist. Waist circumference introduces another factor relevant to body weight and health risks, namely body shape. “Apple” shapes carry most of their fat around the waist and upper body. “Pear” shapes carry most of their body fat around the hips, thighs and lower body. When assessing health risks, most health care providers consider a pear shape to be less harmful to health than apple shape, due to the fact that most apple shapes carry excess weight around the abdomen which increases health risks associated with overweight and obesity.

Healthy weight women should have a waist circumference below 35 inches, while healthy weight men should measure under 40 inches.

The Dangers of Smoking

In anyone, of any age, smoking increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer. Even passive smoking has these same risks.

Passive smoking puts children in a high risk group for respiratory disease such as bronchitis and asthma and can damage their development giving them educational difficulties as well as the recognised risks associated with inhaling smoke.

Smoking increases the heart rates and pushes up the blood pressure because the nicotine stimulates the nervous system. It also reduces the amount of oxygen getting to the brain and thickens the blood, increasing the risk of clots leading, as already mentioned to cardiovascular disease in the form of strokes and heart attacks.

The tar deposited from the smoke into the lungs clogs arteries and damages the air sacs causing shortness of breath and long-term damage.

In each cigarette there are at least 4,000 chemicals and at least 60 of them are known to cause cancer. Most people will think of lung cancer as being the cancer caused by smoking however this is simply the tip of the iceberg. Smoking is known to cause mouth cancer, bladder cancer, kidney, pancreatic, cervical and esophageal cancer.

On average smokers will live twelve years less than non smokers. Their lives, even so shortened, will be, quite often, a misery, with lung disease, heart disease and other incurable conditions.

All these risks are made much worse if you already have a long term problem or illness such as raised cholesterol, respiratory disease, heart disease or diabetes. Stopping smoking can, and will, improve many of the effects of smoking and obviously the sooner you do this the more benefit you will receive.

Senior Citizen Fitness - How To Preserve Your Youth Without Killing Yourself

1. Getting What You Want

Most of us are eager for a long life. Some of us are even desperate to regain your youth. That’s why so many of us decide to get fit and join a fitness club. Great idea! But not so good if you heave weights or jog yourself all the way to the hernia or knee surgeon.

But in reality, you don’t need to damage yourself to be fit. At the same time, you don’t need to treat yourself with kid gloves either. What we really need at our age is a route to superb fitness without hurting ourselves …

2. The Bad News First

Now, I hope your heart can take this because there’s bad news from the start before we get to the good news.

Do you remember the saying, Life Begins At 40? It’s supposed to be a cheering thought. But the harsh truth is that for many people life does begin at 40: it begins to deteriorate. Now, if you weren’t so tough, this could almost put you off asking the same question about life after 50, or 60 or 70, couldn’t it?

Luckily, you’re tough. And you’ve accumulated the wisdom of a prophet too because you can see into the future. You know in your bones that inactivity will make those bones progressively weaker. And you know it’s the same with your muscles if you allow it.

3. The Second Bad News

If you allow this to happen, your metabolism will also diminish. A diminished metabolism reduces the ability of the body to burn fat. Reduced fat burning leads to fat storage. Storing fat leads to greater weight. Greater weight leads to greater inactivity, and … well, you get the picture.

But because it’s you, you’re not going to allow this to happen. Instead, you’re thinking about going jogging or joining a gym or perhaps taking part in fitness classes. If so, that’s great. Well, maybe it’s great.

4. The First Great News

It’s great because the really good news is that inactivity, muscle loss, decreased metabolism, poor eating and the accumulation of fat are not inevitable bi-products of aging at all. To a large extent, they are due to individual decisions. To put it another way,

· it’s not your metabolism that slows you down

· it’s you that slows down your metabolism.

Everyone’s muscular-skeletal system is constantly regenerating and a muscle is a muscle no matter how old it is. Therefore, it responds to exercise at any age. The point is that loss of muscle and muscle fitness along with increases in weight are not essentially connected to age at all. What they are connected to is a type of lifestyle. But in this everyone has a choice.

Naturally, due allowance should be made for previous inactivity and current health before embarking on an exercise program. In fact, it would be sensible to seek medical advice before beginning any new physical activity, preferably from a medical practitioner familiar both with you and fitness.

5. More Great News

But, in essence, this means that workouts for older individuals need not differ markedly from those of younger people. Naturally, you need to be careful to avoid injury and probably take longer rests to recover. But in all essentials, in the words of another well-known phrase, use it or lose it.

Looking on the bright side, making the choice to keep active is easier than ever because there are probably greater opportunities and facilities available than for previous generations. Golf and tennis are still enormously popular as well as swimming and dancing. Fitness clubs and associations have appeared all over the place.

6. Jogging To The Surgery

But consider this. We are not alone. Lots of deteriorating middle-aged citizen desperadoes have already decided to join a gym, try out all the fitness equipment, start heaving weights or a jogging program to preserve their youth after 25 or 30 years or more of inactivity.

Pill and potion pushers are happy with this. So are chiropractors. So are joint and hernia surgeons. Business is brisk.

That’s why it’s best to take it easy at first. If you’ve been inactive for a long period of time there’s a really, really good chance that it will take more than a few workouts before you become a world champ. Bet you knew that didn’t you?

So, don’t be too impressed by all the gadgetry in gyms these days. Most of it you can forget. My general advice would be to opt for non-weights based fitness program of a bodyweight exercises. It’s safer and gets you fitter than practically everyone thinks possible.

7. Fitness Side Effects

We do much more than we generally think when working out.

This is because it’s easy to think only of the benefits to the body. For example, we improve the capacity of our heart to pump greater amounts of blood. We also expand the ability of the lungs to supply oxygen to our blood and improve the ability of our muscles to utilise oxygen supplied by the blood. The better we do this the fitter we become.

But there’s more - as well as becoming physically better in the usual sense of physical fitness, exercise also improves the circulation of blood to the brain.

8. Boost Your Brain Power

This brings at least two valuable benefits. The first is that it reduces the risk of strokes. The second is that it promotes the delivery of oxygen to the brain and improves its capacity to receive it.

In other words, exercise improves the brain chemistry quite naturally without drugs. This seems to have a calming effect and makes us feel less stressed. In turn, this reduces the likelihood of depression. To put it another way, exercise is the drug.
