			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the United States more than 20 percent of women smoke and many of these women smoke while they are pregnant. Smoking can harm a woman’s health and smoking during pregnancy can lead to pregnancy complications and serious health problems in newborns. The more a pregnant woman smokes, the greater the risk to her baby. However, if a woman stops smoking by the end of her first trimester of pregnancy, she is no more likely to have a low birth weight baby than a woman who never smoked. Even stopping during the third trimester can still improve the baby’s growth.</p>
<p>The problems with smoking during pregnancy include:</p>
<p>• Risks to the baby</p>
<p>o Low birth weight (less than 2,500 grams) carries a range of grave health risks for children. Babies who were undernourished in the womb face a greatly increased risk of dying during their early months and years. Those who survive have impaired immune function and increased risk of disease; they are likely to remain undernourished, with reduced muscle strength, throughout their lives, and suffer a higher incidence of diabetes and heart disease in later life. Children born underweight also tend to have a lower IQ and cognitive disabilities, affecting their performance in school and their job opportunities as adults.</p>
<p>o Premature birth – less than 37 weeks of gestation.</p>
<p>o Miscarriage and stillbirths</p>
<p>o Learning and behaviour problems – associated with premature birth and low birth weight. o Increased incidence of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome)</p>
<p>o May undergo withdrawal-like symptoms. The babies appear to be more jittery and difficult to soothe than babies of non-smokers</p>
<p>o Suffer from more lower-respiratory illnesses (such as bronchitis and pneumonia) and ear infections than other babies.</p>
<p>o Some kinds of birth defects, particularly cleft lip and cleft palate (abnormalities of the mouth that need to be corrected by surgery).</p>
<p>• Pregnancy complications</p>
<p>o Placental problems - including placenta previa (low-lying placenta that covers part or all of the opening of the uterus) and placental abruption (in which the placenta peels away, partially or almost completely, from the uterine wall before delivery). Both can result in heavy bleeding during delivery that can endanger mother and baby.</p>
<p>o Premature rupture of the membranes (PROM) (when the sac inside the uterus that holds the baby breaks before labor begins). When this occurs before 37 weeks of pregnancy it often results in the birth of a premature baby.</p>
<p>Smoking also affects the reproduction before a woman becomes pregnant. Smoker can have more trouble conceiving than non-smokers with fertility being 30% lower. However, fertility returns to normal after a woman stops smoking.</p>
<p>Men also have fertility problems associated with smoking. They have:</p>
<p>• reduced ejaculation volume,</p>
<p>• a reduced sperm count,</p>
<p>• the sperm motility is impaired,</p>
<p>• increased sperm shape abnormalities and</p>
<p>• the sperm are less able to penetrate the ovum.</p>
<p>The sperm related problems can take three months to correct. It is suggested therefore that males quit smoking at least three months before trying to conceive.</p>
<p>The good news is that the problems in pregnancy can be overcome by quitting smoking. This is best undertaken before the pregnancy – but stopping at any stage during the pregnancy will have a benefit for the mother and baby. sprinters, they are muscular, fast and explosive, than look at the<br />

Because 99% of the weight loss systems or drugs you will find are either potentially dangerous for your health or pure marketing hype. Everybody likes to hear that losing weight is fast and easy, and nobody wants to hear it is a gradual process that requires some effort and discipline. So the self-claimed weight loss &#8220;experts&#8221; are giving to you exactly what you are looking for - a fast and easy solution for your problem. Unfortunately the easy way is not the way that will lead you to healthy and long-term results. If you want to learn how to detect the hype and the gimmicks you have to understand the basics of weight loss first. So let’s start!</p>
<p><b>Weight loss vs. fat loss</b></p>
<p>First of all, let’s consider the differences between both things: There are many ways to lose weight -losing water weight, losing muscle and bone weight, and losing body fat. In fact, it is very easy to lose &#8220;weight.&#8221; Just start exercising and reduce your water intake and you will lose several pounds in the first few days. When exercising, your body loses a lot of water and because you have stopped drinking liquids, you easily become dehydrated and you will weigh several pounds less. But is this is a long-term and healthy weight loss? Of course not. You will gain back the weight as soon as you restore your normal water intake.</p>
<p>Here is another example: When you go on a diet and cut your calorie intake too much, your body detects the severe calorie deficit and slows down your metabolism. As a result, you stop losing fat (your reserve fuel), and start getting the energy you need from the muscle tissue. The result is decreased body weight, but unfortunately you have lost muscle instead of losing body fat.</p>
<p>As you see, to achieve long-term, natural weight loss you need to burn as much fat as possible with the minimum lean body mass loss.</p>
<p><b>How exactly fat is burned?</b></p>
<p>If you are a healthy person, to successfully lose fat you only need to burn more calories than you eat (or drink) while maintaining your metabolism fast. Isn’t it simple? In order to achieve this, your calories must come from the proper food sources, such as lean protein (chicken breast, egg whites, seafood, extra-lean red meat), complex carbs (oatmeal, brown rice, whole grains, vegetables, etc.) and &#8220;good&#8221; fats (olive oil, flaxseeds, fatty fish and cod liver oil). You should also add some kind of cardio exercise to your program, such as walking, jogging or cycling. Keep in mind that cardio is considered the best way to directly burn the fat.</p>
<p>Let’s look at an example:</p>
<p>If you burn 2500 kCal and eat about 2000 kCal every day, that is a deficit of 500 kCal. There are 3500 kCal in 1 pound of fat. This means you will be burning 1 pound per week of pure body fat. Surprised? Yes, only 1 pound per week. I know &#8220;10 pounds in two days!&#8221; sounds much better, but that is far from realistic goal.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that if you cut your calorie intake too much, you will slow down your metabolism, and this is not desirable if your goal is fat loss. This means that &#8220;Eat 500 kCal – Burn 2500 kCal – Lose 4 pounds per week&#8221; won’t work for you.</p>
<p>It’s definitely possible to burn fat at faster rates (with proper nutrition and exercise program), even without supplements, but keep in mind that the maximum rate that is considered healthy is 2 pounds per week (if you are extremely overweight, up to 3 pounds per week is fine). Achieving healthy long-term weight loss faster is practically impossible. If you find products or nutrition plans that promise fast weight loss, they probably base their claims on dehydration. You can lose water weight really fast but this is not a real fat loss and can lead to serious health conditions.</p>
<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>
<p>You don’t need a pill to lose weight. You don’t need to starve yourself, to restrict the intake of any macronutrient, or to buy any &#8220;miracle&#8221; product. You just need to consume fewer calories than you burn, and those should come from good natural food sources. The best way to increase the amount of calories you burn and to create such calorie deficit is to exercise. Mild calorie restriction plus 30 to 40 minutes of intensive cardio exercise every day is the &#8220;magic formula&#8221; you are looking for and that will make you lose fat like never before.</p>

<p>The answer is obvious.  I am surmising that the people I am talking to are pro-active and want to work on preventive maintenance.  I have been talking this talk and walking this walk for several years now and I am convinced that being pro-active is the way to go.</p>
<p>If you are in good health now, and want to stay that way for years to come, you need to find an “exercise guru” to help you get to your next fitness level.</p>
<p>Exercise has been touted as one of the closest things to the “Fountain of Youth” we have.</p>
<p>When you exercise you can expect:</p>
<p>•	Lower Blood Pressure<br />

•	Lower Blood Sugar<br />
•	Increase in bone density<br />

<p>Start an exercise program.  Even if it’s as simple as walking around the block….do it!!  Get in the habit of getting out of your chair and moving.  Put on some music and start “dancing”.</p>
<p>Enjoy your life.  Remain independent.</p>
<p>Even if it’s been years since you did anything physical, you can actually regain your strength and stamina.  You of course, have to start out slowly and progress at a steady rate.  As you do this, you will become addicted to exercise and it will become a part of your lifestyle!!  Invite friends to exercise with you.  Put on a video and have a friend join you and make it a part of your day.</p>
<p>If you are really determined and want to join a club or group….don’t hesitate.  You’ll be surprised how many other people at the club or gathering are just starting out and it’s so much fun to workout with your peers!!</p>
<p>I am completely blown away when I watch three 90  year old women complete a 45 minute non-stop Chair Aerobics class.</p>
<p>You might laugh when you hear “Chair Aerobics” thinking to yourself that sitting in a chair and moving is not much of a challenge.  Think again!</p>
<p>I invite anyone of any fitness level to attend a “Sittin’ and Sweatin’” Chair aerobics class and not feel challenged.</p>
<p>If you cannot imagine yourself sweating then I feel sorry for you.  Sweating is a very important part of exercise.  Your skin can be categorized as your third kidney and it is used to eliminate toxins out of your body.  If you don’t sweat, you are really stressing your kidneys, by making them do all the toxin elimination.</p>
<p>Think of sweating as a way to make your “inner terrain” healthy by getting rid of all the toxic wastes that have accumulated over the years!</p>
<p>So, being pro-active is taking responsibility for your own health and fitness.  The simple task of incorporating more movement and/or exercise into your life will put you on the road to a healthy lifestyle and a feeling of happiness.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dieters searching for hoodia products because of media coverage or internet promotions will see many brands.  Two commonly seen names are H57® hoodia and hoodia 920.  One is a real product, the other is not.  H57® hoodia by JEC Nutrition is a big seller and is available at many retailers including GNC and Walgreen’s.  Hoodia 920 is a product of some spammer’s imagination.</p>
<p>H57, without the ®, is used by several internet companies to draw traffic to their websites.  These sites face risks of being prosecuted for trademark infringement by JEC Nutrition, but right now JEC is just trying to let consumers know that those other companies may not be providing the same quality product.  Hoodia 920 is also used as a search term by many internet companies, even though it is not a real product; once again to attract traffic to their sites.  Since hoodia 920 is not a real product, there is no need for anyone to worry about trademark infringement.</p>
<p>Dieters looking for a pure hoodia product should know that H57 ® hoodia contains other ingredients.  Those other ingredients are green tea, cinnamon bark extract and trans-resveratrol.  Green tea contains caffeine, a stimulant, and those who are sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants may want to avoid the JEC Nutrition product.  There are other products out there which contain pure hoodia extracts or powders.  Hoodia XR is one of these.  Hoodia 920 does not contain anything.</p>
<p>Cinnamon bark extract is included in H57® hoodia because of its thermogenic, or fat-burning properties.  Research indicates that hoodia may increase a person’s metabolism, but there is nothing to indicate that it could be considered a fat-burner.  Fat burners work for some people and not for others.  Hoodia 920 will not work for anyone.</p>
<p>Trans-resveratrol or resveratrol is a compound found in red wine and is known to have many health benefits, none of which relate to weight loss.  JEC Nutrition does not explain why they chose to include resveratrol in H57® hoodia, but it is not something that dieters should be particularly concerned about.  Any dieter considering a purchase of hoodia 920 should stop themselves.</p>
<p>Hoodia 920 advertisements and e-mails were probably meant to be a joke.  Some of these e-mails included phony testimonials.  It is not clear whether the original spammers were also scammers, selling phony products or if the whole thing was strictly meant as a joke.  Undoubtedly, many overweight people searching for appetite control did not find the whole thing funny, but some people probably did.</p>
<p>Dietary experts make the following recommendations concerning hoodia products.  Consumers should buy hoodia products, like H57® hoodia and Hoodia XR, from a reputable company which sells other dietary supplements.  Reviews of hoodia products indicate that it works as an appetite suppressant for some people and does not work for others.  This is true of many dietary supplements, not just hoodia.  Those dieters who are taking hoodia should remember to eat regular meals and drink plenty of water.  Fasting is dangerous and is not recommended by reputable manufacturers.  Water is a necessity, because hoodia is known to suppress thirst as well as hunger.</p>

<p>Here are 10 lifestyle tips to help you avoid premature skin aging.</p>
<p>Don’t smoke: Whether you smoke, or you spend time with a smoker, cigarette smoke is damaging and aging your skin. Exposure to cigarette smoke significantly increases skin wrinkles and dryness. Cigarette smoke depletes your body of Vitamin C which is a key ingredient for keeping skin plump and moist.</p>
<p>Manage sun exposure: The sun’s UV rays penetrate deep into skin tissues contributing to wrinkles, dryness, sun burn and, in the worse case, skin cancer. When spending time in the sun protect yourself with a sun screen. A sun screen with an SPF 15 rating, or higher, is recommended. Remember to continuously reapply your sun screen if you are outside for long periods of time, or have been swimming or exercising. By eating fruits and vegetables, especially brightly coloured fruit and leafy greens, we are giving our bodies vitamins and antioxidants that combat the breakdown of collagen and elastin in our skin. Collagen and elastin helps keep our skin tight and youthful. It is also important is to make sure you drink plenty of water every day.</p>
<p>Manage stress: To help reduce premature skin aging due to stress be aware of your stress level. Stress and worry cause frowning and, over time, the muscles in the face actually “remember” the stressed and worried expressions. A good anti aging skin care program should include meditation, yoga, gentle exercise or other relaxation techniques. Keeping stress in check will help you look and feel younger.</p>

Walking and running machines include steppers and treadmills, while climbing machines have pedals that you push with your feet, making it feel like you are climbing stairs.</p>
<p>The reason these machines are important is that they exercise our leg muscles, which are some of the most useful muscles in our body, but at the same time some of the weakest. After all, we are descended from apes, who didn’t walk upright – in evolutionary terms, we’ve only just started walking, and our legs aren’t all that great at it yet. Building good muscles in your legs will help you stay on your feet and go for long walks, hikes or runs without feeling tired quickly, like so many people do in this age of the car. Once you get started, you might even want to take up walking as a hobby, and the more you walk, the better your leg muscles will get.</p>
<p>But in that case, why not just go for a real walk, or climb up and down real stairs? Well, you could do that, but you’d be leaving yourself open to the weather on the walk, making it difficult to have a regular walking routine, and while you could just walk up and down some stairs for half an hour each day, people would probably look at you a little oddly.</p>
<p>Within a few weeks of using walking and climbing machines, you should start to feel more energetic – it is surprising how much of how much energy we feel we have comes from the strength of our legs.
